The
Hoof Groom Certification Course
is intended for horse owners
and the equine professionals.
Prerequisite
Applicants
must attend the preceding
one day course, "Introduction
To Hoof Mapping & The
Whole Horse Trim",
with Martha Olivo. The price
is included with Hoof
Groom Certification Course
preregistration.
Objective
Martha Olivo teaches
the application of her Hoof
Mapping technique to evaluate
the balance and health of
horses feet, then explains
how to restore hoof health
and balance using the Whole
Horse Trim methods.
Scope
The
United Horsemanship Hoof
Groom Certification Course
is a powerful 5 day immersion
course focused on the philosophy,
mechanics and science of
natural hoof trimming and
care. The course is designed
to provide participants
with the skills required
to consistently perform
a physiologically correct
trim on non-pathological
hooves.
This
Hoof Groom Certification Course
is the prerequisite for the
Certified Hoof Technician
Course, which delves into
pathology and manipulation
of the trim to correct aberrant
hoof form and to restore soundness.

course uses lectures, demonstrations,
cadaver dissection, cadaver
and live horse trim labs,
discussion and critiques
to educate participants
on:

care theory & support
for the natural hoof
- Anatomy
& physiology of the
hoof
- Hoof
Mapping for a variety of
foot types
- Whole
Horse Trim principles
&
physiologically
correct trimming
- Natural
horse handling & safety
- Hoof
conditioning & barefoot
transition for various terrain
- Purchasing,
fitting & use of protective
hoof boots
- Trimming
tool selection & use
- Creating
living environments to support
horse health.
Minimum
Class Size - United Horsemanship
retains the right to cancel
scheduled courses should registration
fail to meet the minimum attendance
requirements of 6 Full-Tuition
Participants. United Horsemanship
will refund 100% of deposits
if courses must be canceled.
Fee
Schedule - The fee for
the 5 day course is $1,000.
The prerequisite class, "Introduction
To Hoof Mapping & The
Whole Horse Trim", is
free with preregistration
in "Hoof Groom Certification
Course" or $100 if taken
separately.
Deposit
- A deposit of 50% ($500.00)
is due upon application. Payment
is made to the clinic host
by check, money order, or
credit card. No cash will
be accepted. The balance
of the tuition must be received
2 weeks prior to the scheduled
class date.
Participant Cancellation
& Refund Policy - Refunds
for canceling more than 30
days before the start date
of the class: 1/2 of deposit
will be forfeited and 1/2
will be returned or
the whole deposit can be credited
towards a future class.
Refunds for canceling
less than than 30 days before
the start date of the class:
all of deposit will be forfeited
or 1/2 will be forfeited
and 1/2 will be credited towards
a future class.
Tools
- Participants must bring
their own tools or purchase
them at the clinic. Notify
the clinic host in advance
if you need to purchase tools.
Tools used in class include
hoof knives, sharpeners, rasps,
nippers, hoof stands and rubberized
gloves.
Accommodations - Accommodations
are the responsibility of
participants.
