Clinic Feedback & Testimonials

"I'm over 5O years old, I own/manage close to 50 horses now.. (that work for a living). I've had horses all my life... I've NEVER, I mean NEVER have had such a powerful revelation in everyday horse keeping in my life as the "barefoot movement" has afforded me. If you can read... read the book Lifetime of Soundness, if you can walk & talk, go to a clinic. Your horse's life and your own will never be quite the same."
~Darolyn Butler-Dial

"I just returned from the Martha Olivo Clinic held at Sharon Williams' place in Sweet Home Oregon. I cannot tell you what an incredible learning experience it was! I recommend her as highly as possible to anyone interested in the overall wellness of their horse. I am intensely grateful for the knowledge that Martha's clinic gave me.. thanks to her and to Sharon for hosting it."
~Terry Barrall

"It was my desire to learn about this new frontier. My desire lead me to Martha. Martha taught me enough to go out into the world and trim horse feet. From there, I grew stronger. My ability to trim improved and I am learning the ways of the horse."
~Diana Jones

"I attended the 10-day clinic so that I could gain more confidence in trimming my own horses (2 Peruvian Pasos, one of which is a recovering founder horse). I got that confidence and more as a result of the multi-day immersion in trimming and dissection, plus the fantastic discussions among the other attendees and with Martha. I am so glad I took the time to go and really learn! Worth every penny!"
~Sue Riegel Williams

"I learned a great deal when I attended one of her (Martha's) clinics. She is a gifted teacher who is able to explain concepts and then demonstrate them. Martha makes the complicated seem easy. The hoof dissection was worth the entire weekend. You clearly see how magnificently the equine hoof was designed."
~ Laura Bauman

"What I have learned from United Horsemanship and Martha Olivo has changed my life in such a wonderful way. I began learning more about the horse's hoof out of curiosity. Little did I know that I would find it so interesting and rewarding that I would become a natural hoofcare provider for a living. I've learned from Martha what an amazing organ the hoof is, and can't thank her enough for sharing her expertise with me and thousands of others. I see miracles of healing every day in the horses that I now trim, using the information that Martha has taught me. Her clinics and certification courses are worth every penny and I highly recommend them to all horse owners, veterinarians, and farriers."
~ Cheryl Sutor

"I went to a Martha Olivo clinic recently and I'm ready to get started. I have a 6 year old Shetland pony that foundered almost 2 years ago and I have tried everything from heart bars to nitro pads, nothing made him better. Martha trimmed him and I've been trimming with the help of Karen Funderburg (Hoof Groom) and he is getting so much better. It brings tears to my eyes to think I was slowly killing my little friend with kindness. I'm so excited to learn hoof grooming and hope my excitement will rub off on others."
~ Jeanne Pickens

"I tended to a mare today that foaled sometime yesterday morning...she did not pass all her placenta, was painful, not eating, rapid pulse, dehydrated and beginning to act sore footed. She had shoes on all four feet that were reported to have been put on approximately three months ago. Her heels on both forefeet were three inches in length and she was developing a dish to the face of her front hooves. Contraction in the heels, bars and frog were moderately severe. I flushed out her uterus twice with saline and mild disinfectant, controlled her pain, cut three huge hooks (long teeth) out of her mouth and administered fluids/electroytes and charcoal with a stomach tube. Then I tackled the feet. It was the most important thing I did while I was there: Gloves and nippers and knives! I pulled shoes and trimmed heels to approximately 1 1/4 inches, reduced bars and some excess sole, reduced some flare and excess toe out front and sent her off walking with her baby (who has some flexural deformity and really needs to move himself!) It's Saturday and this mare was headed for a crisis. How many horses have to wait for a farrier to show up because the veterinarian won't/can't take care of the feet? This was a situation today where just a FEW HOURS could make or break this beautiful (neglected) quarter horse mare--threatening to founder from her retained placenta/uterus infection--there is NO excuse in my mind to leave a horse like this or expect a farrier to "come on Monday" to do something about her feet. I feel so fortunate to have the knowledge and the expertise to take care of crisis feet such as these...on the spot."
~ Dr. Tomas Teskey, D.V.M.

"Martha, we love you and are very greatful for you and your passion for barefoot horses. We will keep you in our mind and hearts forever! You are so special to our horses...that is all of our horses, everywhere!"
